I'm Kristin Shapiro and thanks for visiting my site! My goal here is to help teachers find success in AP Environmental Science! I have been a teacher for 17 years in both suburban Dallas and rural Southeastern Colorado. I am the APES teacher and Dean of Students at Florence Junior Senior High School and love every minute of it!
For the past ten years I have served as a reader/early table leader for the AP® Environmental Science exam. I have lead teacher trainings and developed professional development for school districts in Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, and Colorado, as well as had the pleasure to review curriculum materials and textbooks for APES. I was honored to be a member of lab manual production team and currently serve on the PBL Development Team for APES and the College Board.
I have contracted with a variety of organizations to help students and teachers prepare for the AP exam, and teach the AP course. I also served as a part-time coach and curriculum writer for the National Math and Science Initiative and it was through them that I first identified my passion for teaching other teachers.
Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with my husband, my two sisters, and pup- Zippy. I enjoy gardening (saying that makes me feel old), working out, hiking, and avoiding cooking.
